Emotions impact the quality of learning and build a good relationships
How we are of our students emotions in classroom, there are different ways to check for that feeling. Feeling chick activity that is done quickly to get a sense of mood and inventing an emotion in the classroom. examples about these activities are: feeling card by letting the students choose a card and explain why he/she choose this emotions, after that the teacher starts manage the emotions. Another example is the feeling sheet by letting the students write his/ her emotions.
Once the teacher knows the emotions of the students, the teacher starts manage the feeling by many strategies:
1- Visualization: let the students imagine what they like. For example, if the students feel anxiety, the teacher told the students to imagine the success. Imagination helps the students to relax, changes mood and thus facilitate learning. Its easy and don't take time.
2- How to " Shake it OFF", let the students listen to this song and start dancing. The students start moves the body ( stretching), build a relationships, its so beneficial at the morning to let the students wake up.
3- Positive support by:
a. Thank you: This done by making a circle and the students says thank. For example Thank you for helping me in the project and starts share it. It could be done verbally or writing notes.
b. Acknowledgment: If some one try hard, the teacher says good, go in you will reach it.
Also this strategies are good for the special needs.
In addition, this webinar talks about : The Power of Kawaii" Kawaii means cute. According to the researcher, the students will do better if their is a cute images, it attract the students attentions and focus.
Emotions do affect the classroom environment and it would really help for a teacher to detect a certain emotional state. It would also help a lot if students themselves can do this- to understand how they feel and how they balance their feelings. This needs time and effort.
ReplyDeleteI loved these strategies because it’s helpful not only for normal students but also for students with special needs.
ReplyDeleteHere is many tip to create a more positive classroom depending on our student’s emotions the teacher starts manage the feeling by many strategies: visualization, how to shake it off, and positive support
I believe that no matter how much teachers have mastered their skills, if they lack the techniques and strategies to attract and grab student's attention, then whatever they teach will be useless; because it's in their hands to transform a boring topic into an interesting one. Students will learn and benefit more when teachers provide the appropriate and comfortable environment in the classroom.
ReplyDeleteI liked the one about building trust, once the students trust the teacher they are no more afraid or worried this gives them a push to participate and become active learners. The more the teacher is clear and explicit in plans assessment and classroom rules the more students trust her and the healthier is the classroom atmosphere
