What is Diabetes?

Diabetes, often referred to a high blood glucose. it is of  three types:
Type 1: the body does not produce insulin.
type 2: the body does not produce enough insulin for proper function
Gestational diabetes: affects female during pregnancy. She eat a lot of sugar where as the amount of insulin is not sufficient

                                         Test to know if the patient is diabetic or not
To determine if the patient is diabetic or not, the patient should do the test  FPG ( fasting plasma glucose), if the level of blood glucose is above 126mg/dl so the person is diabetic. In addition we have another test which is OGTT ( oral glucose tolerance test), if the result is above or equal 200mg/dl so the patient is diabetic.

                                                 Main symptoms of Diabetes
Central:
1. polydipsia
2. Polyphagia

Breath:
Smell of acetone

Respiratory:
Kussmaul breathing ( hyper-ventilation)

Eyes:
Blurred vision

Gastric:
1. Nausea
2. Vomiting
3. Abdominal pain

Urinary:
1. Polyuria
2. Glycosuria

  1. thank for giving us simple steps to lower our risk, because what i know about diabetes that when a person get obese he had the risk to be diabetic of type 2 diabetes so by doing exercises, diet and eating healthy food he will overcome this disease easily.. That will prevent to become a type 1 diabetic.

  2. I have a blurred vision sometimes? Could it be diabetes? Well after this post I became more aware of diabetes symptoms and I will try to do a test to make sure that I'm on the safe side . Thanks for sharing these ideas with us :)
