Teaching Today

Now a days we here alot many teachers who say " I explain and I make my job". what this means?, are you treat an object instead of students, what about if the students did not understand and did not says to the teacher, Is it asking for understanding enough, are the books enough to explain the materials and what about the relation between the teacher and the students, is it affect the process of teaching?
Many teachers teach to gain a money and forget the meaning of teaching, they forget the aim of teaching which is to build an effective children that we can benefit from them in the future.
One thing that help the process of teaching is to build a good personal relationships with the students. The teacher should respect the students,should be fair in the class and to have a sense of humor in the class, because once the fun is found, the job is done.
Good relationships with the students will encourage the students to take  risk and to ask questions without being afraid, this way help the students to learn and increase their retention, because the students will learn alot from their mistakes.

                                      How To Get Students attention:
The main role of the teacher is to capture the students attention and sustain their focus. The repertoire of attention moves from the hight authority toward the lowest one. However, our teaching role is to use the low authority. Starting from the highest one is desisting. Desisting are doing something you want them to stop doing. For example, punish them, name dropping, offer help, bring in group pressure, order them, threaten, give them another choice, signals, touch them.... Those thing makes the students to stop doing the annoying thing BUT it does not make the students engaging in the class.
Alerting, are aimed to keeping students on their toes. For example, surround to capture students attention, look to one and talk to another, eye contact, wait time, equal opportunity, give the students an incomplete sentence and let them continue, random order ( choice randomly the students to answer) and remove distraction. Those thing make the students alert, since the students did not know which time the teacher will call her/his.
To have an effective teaching the teacher should make the students involuntary engaging by using props in the explanation ( for example get a skeleton and explain on it), suspense, challenge, gesture ( teacher being animated), praise, humor, dramatizing..... Those thing make the students more engaging in the class.
In addition, the teacher should acknowledge the students. For example, if some student receive a bad news, the teacher should understand his/her situation.

                                    Are the time and space affect the process of learning?
The teacher should has the ability to matching the space to the instruction. The teacher should know where to use circle, clusters, rows, U shape..... In addition, the teacher should manage their time to use it in an effective ways. the teacher should come on time and leave on time, should not lose the time in discipline. Also, the teacher should not take from the break of the students, should plan in the home to make the process of learning move smoothly and should not lose time in arranging the students in the class. Putting a routine saves time. For example, putting an attendance paper in the table and each students come put a signal in front of her name before going to their seat. Also putting a role to raise their hands if the students want to ask, give answer, go out side. Furthermore, Putting a routine for the assignment. Like the format, the time for it and don't break the role by accepting different kind of format or accepting a late assignment.

                                     How climate and clarity affect Teaching
The climate of the class should encourage the students to learn more. The teacher should build a community in the class to make the students feel relax, should not believe that if the students need help so the students are not intelligent. However, the teacher should encourage them to ask for help if they need, should accept mistake and let the students to make mistakes to learn from it. The teacher should explain for the students that all the people make mistakes and we should benefit from it. Moreover, the teacher should be clear in their instruction to prevent the misconceptions. For example, she can write their objectives in the board and share it with the class, should predict the thing that will make a confusion for the students before the instruction to know how to deal with it to make it clear to the students. The teacher should check for understanding and not asking just. The teacher should vary their instruction, this means to have a different level of thinking in their instruction. Also the teacher should explain the rationale of the lesson before starting on it to make the students aware about the lesson and how it is related to real life. once these connection is present, the students engage in the class because the lesson is related to his/her life.
Finally the teacher should communicate with their students in high expectation. The teacher should not make the students to feel that they cant make this or that. The teacher should sending a three key messages to all students:
1. This is important
2. You can do it
3. I wont give up on you.
